You Can Make A Difference
While Governments debate, organizations discuss, local authorities and the Police consider their options more of our youth are being senselessly murdered on our streets.
The Big Question to ask ourselves is What Can You Do?
We must stop looking for a solution to come from Government or the Police as this problem cannot be solved by Law Enforcement alone.
So what can YOU do to Make a Difference?
Perhaps start in the way we communicate with each other as human beings. We can all Make a Difference and make our neighbourhood a safer and more pleasant place to live. Along with my family, I am launching Make a Difference to invite and encourage people to play a part, however small, in bringing decency and community pride and spirit into our daily lives.
Talk is Cheap and Actions Speak Louder than Words - Action is needed NOW
‘Make a Difference’ A first step would be to look at how we treat our family, friends, neighbours and community members to make a great start in this need for change.
It is vital for you and people of all ages to come up with ideas and possible solutions, and be confident to voice your opinions to help restore respect and a sense of pride to the community. Close to our heart is the wanton carrying and use of knives and the profound effect they have on victims and their families. By all working together I feel certain we can find ways to show that violence and especially the carrying of knives is not cool but, in fact, the actions of cowards.
The crux of the community programme is to stop blaming society and make people understand that they must accept responsibility for their actions and words (good or bad) and, most importantly, to support and educate. We are all part of our own community so let’s make it a safer and more enjoyable place to live.
After all, the smallest positive idea, gesture or action is better than no idea, gesture or action. If I had a slogan I suppose it would be ‘Do anything except nothing’ (as long as it is civil & legal).
